I guess we were riding the high too long and weren't expecting to find out that Angelina needed to have eye surgery. We found out on March 21 and she had her surgery on March 22. She had Retinopathy Of Prematurity (ROP) and needed laser surgery to stop the abnormal growth of blood vessels. It was the only way to preserve her eyesight so we decided to go ahead with the surgery.
She came out of it well and her follow up appointment was very good. That poor little girl just can't catch a break. She had to be intubated for her surgery and had to stay on the ventilator for 4 days before she stable enough to be taken off. She is recovering now from that and is doing pretty good. She is back on her full feeds and continues to gain weight. She now weighs 4 lbs 7 oz and is 15" long. She is getting so big!
On the flip side Brady is doing really good. He gets all of his feeds by bottle or nursing and does really well with both. He toggles on and off his nasal cannula and was off of it for 14 hours yesterday. That is a step in the direction out the door! He now weighs 6 lbs 5 oz and is 18.5" long. Little porker!! He is pretty much out of his preemie cloths and into 0-3 months.
The both are pretty popular among the nurses so they are very taken care of. It has been a long more than 2 months but looking back it has gone by so fast. We both are still a little zombieish but are trying to regain sleep and energy before they come home.
I know I have said this before, but thank you to everyone for all your prayers and for passing along the need for prayer to those who don't even know all of us. They have both needed it and God hears all of you. He has given them the strength to get over the obstacles they have encountered. So from the bottom of our hearts and the depths of our souls thank you, thank you, thank you. You will never know how much it means to Larry and I.
